Welcome to VE1RY's Ham Shack

Where Amateur Radio, Photography & Family History Come Alive

I'm Stan Parsons, VE1RY - sharing my world of signals, snapshots, and stories

"WHILE THIS WEBSITE COULD BE CONSIDERED AN OPUSCULE, IT MEANS A LOT TO ME PERSONALLY"

Who is VE1RY?

Hello! I’m Stanley Lorne Parsons—most folks just call me Stan. I’ve been a licensed amateur radio operator since 1969 and proudly earned my Advanced Certificate in 1971. It’s been my privilege to be a member of the ARRL A-1 Operator Club since 1974—an honor awarded by fellow amateurs for excellence in on-air operating.

You’ll find me active on the air from 160 to 6 meters, enjoying SSB, FT8, and FT4. I’m passionate about chasing DX, collecting Grids and Prefixes, and participating in POTA. One of my favourite parts of the hobby is exchanging QSL cards—especially by email—as a way of sharing and remembering each contact.

Thanks for stopping by, and I hope to connect with you on the airwaves soon!

One Life Three Passions

"Since 1969, Amateur Radio has been my gateway to the world — a place where skill, curiosity, and fellowship meet. From the crackle of CW to the clarity of digital, it's more than a hobby — it's my lifelong connection to global friends and technical discovery."

"Through the lens, I’ve captured ships, scenery, and stories — each photo a frozen moment from the East Coast and beyond. Photography lets me blend technology with art, turning light and timing into something timeless."

"Every family has a story — mine reaches across generations and continents. Genealogy helps me uncover our roots and preserve the legacy of those who came before us. It's a journey of memory, meaning, and identity."
